When Jack, Ella and Chen are forced to spend a rainy week with Grandma Finerman, they predict they’ll die of boredom. That all changes when they find a vintage yellow raincoat in her attic which magically transports whoever wears it into the body of a great magician, Augustus Semprini.
More than a century earlier, Augustus stole a family heirloom from a witch, and as punishment, she cursed him to spend his remaining days trapped within the threads of the raincoat.
With the freedom that being a grown-up provides them, the three kids are now able to fulfil their heart’s desires. Chen, a basketball fanatic, is finally able to compete against the tallest players in town, nothing in the kitchen is off limits now to master chef Jack and Ella’s immense scientific discoveries are finally taken seriously when delivered by an adult. The doors to every event that they were deemed too short, too young or too uneducated to partake in are suddenly opened to them.
But when their home is repossessed by an evil businessman, plotting to level their entire town and turn it into an exclusive golf course, the kids must put their skills into practice to work out a way to free Semprini, by assisting him to make amends with the witch, and in turn, he must help the kids make enough money to save their home and keep their family together.
A middle grade comedy adventure in the vein of ‘Head Kid’ and the film ‘Big’.
